Easter Hot Cross Buns

Easter is a delightful time of year - it marks the end of the dreary winter months and gives us hope for a decent summer!  Easter food is delicious - spring lamb, simnel cake and of course, hot cross buns and Easter eggs for the kids (young and old!).  This recipe for hot cross buns is easy and delicious.  The recipe makes 12 buns - it's best not to scale this recipe, but if you want to make more, then double the quantity.

450 g Flour (plain) 
55 g Caster sugar 
1 tbsp Yeast, dried 
150 ml Whole milk, pasteurised 
50 ml Tepid water 
1 tsp Salt 
1 tsp Mixed Spice 
50 g Butter 
1 Egg(s) 
25 g Currants 
50 g Mixed peel
